Amazon to Bring 600 Jobs to Scarborough

Amazon recently announced plans to open a Fulfillment Centre in Scarborough that will bring more than 600 full-time jobs to the already fast-growing area. In a press release, Amazon said “the one-million-square-foot robotics facility will pick, pack and ship small items to customers ranging from toys and baby products to small electronics.” Amazon also said full-time employees will receive “competitive hourly wages” and “comprehensive benefits”. Fabulous news for residents and families living at KSquare!

Park Yourself in Luxury at KSquare

From the very beginning when our team began designing KSquare Condos, we considered all possibilities for the comfort and wellbeing of the residents who will live here. KSquare’s convenient location at Kennedy Road and Highway 401 is certainly a bonus for easy access and getting around the GTA and beyond.

But we needed to ensure that traffic noises do not bother residents. Our innovative solution was to use the positioning of the ample parking facilities so as to mitigate any noise created by the roadway. We have dedicated the floors adjacent to the Highway 401 to parking spaces instead of suites for the benefit of our residents.

When complete, KSquare Condos will offer residents three floors of well-lit underground parking plus another six floors of safe, secure and bright above ground parking. Access to the extensive underground parking will be by (security key fob? License plate recognition?) and numerous security surveillance cameras will be installed with 2-way video communication linked to the 24-hour concierge desk. Being able to offer extensive parking as well as a choice of underground or above ground facilities is important to residents and their guests. By design, these parking facilities are situated adjacent to and facing Highway 401, ensuring the minimum noise possible.

Let’s Talk Architecture With IBI, the inspired designers behind K-Square

From the first, the architecture of KSquare has been designed to explore its environment through a holistic approach, creating a wonderful compatibility between the street level activities and the building’s dazzling amenity spaces glimpsed through abundant glass windows.

KSquare Condos consists of two striking towers sitting atop a podium base. Architecturally, the treatment of the podium on the southern portion creates a backdrop to the park that extends from the west entrance, all the way to the east side of the building. The park covers over 1/2 an acre of parkland and green space, with dedicated pedestrian pathways that allow residents to enjoy nature right on their doorstep.

Accentuating the fluidity in the design, the twin towers feature full width wraparound balconies for the magnificent corner suites, available in 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom layouts, at opposing corners for a façade characterized by sweeping lines of grace and elegance.

At the opposing corners, strategically-placed balconies capitalize on the spectacular vistas, on multiple suite designs, allowing residents to experience both luxurious indoor and outdoor living.

The 8th Floor is home to the wide array of amenities exclusively for KSquare residents. Let’s Talk Aesthetics with K-Square’s Interior Designer

Reowned commercial and residential interior design firm, Tomas Pearce Interior Design Consulting is the name behind the stunning interiors at some of the GTA’s most coveted condominium developments. These days, their focus is on bringing that same inspired expertise to K-Square Condos where the firm was given the opportunity to expand their design concepts and have a lot of fun with them.

“They have pushed us to do that,” says President & Co-Founder of Tomas Pearce, Melandro Quilatan, “Kingdom Developments wanted something that would be talked about, something that the residents would be proud to photograph and post on social media.”

The interiors at K-Square are inspired by the concept of community and bringing residents together, coupled with a desire to bring movement into the expansive common areas. High quality in every aspect was also a fundamental principle, and the result can be seen throughout the building’s interiors.

On the ground floor, the lobby space is divided into two wings that they call the water lounge and the fire lounge. “With its tremendous wonderful height, it’s just like a huge gallery. We’re really exciting about a kinetic installation of a video wall. And the dimensions are staggeringly large,” Tomas adds.

Green building is important to Kingdom Developments so, on a decorative level, the designers were careful to choose fabrics, draperies, area carpets and toss cushions for practicality and durability, but also to meet LEED standards for green living.

The team was given the freedom to come up with something that nobody’s seen here before. The 7th Floor amenity space was divided into 3 zones, all connected but with retractable walls so residents can reconfigure the space. There’s a private dining zone, a bar/sports lounge, and a 10,000 sq.ft. library and study area. K-Square will be home to Toronto’s largest private condo library, for which the design team has created a sculptural environment out of millwork. The library design flows like a French curve, with seating in the centre surrounded by a tree-like feature that rises up out of the ground to create a warm wooden canopy to sit underneath.

Commenting on the one-of-a-kind luxury lifestyle being offered at K-Square, Senior Designer, Brian Woodrow says, “I think living here would be very exciting. The overall building, the two towers stretched over the podium, allows for a lot of interaction at the social level. It’s designed in such a way that you can just walk in and interact. There’s the library space and the sports bar, which is always open. You don’t have to book it, you can just go in and see if your friends are there or make friends in there. It’s a different way to live.”
